A Blessed Farewell from Father Andrew

Dear Holy Spirit Parishioners,

Blessings of peace and joy to all of you.

It’s been two brief years for me in the parish as the associate pastor. And my time and stay at
the parish has been a blessing to me. I’m aware that my coming to the parish meant that you
make some adjustments; for you were going to be served for the first time by a black priest.

Truly, the extent of welcome I received at the outset till now has been the source of inner
strengths and joy to me. You permitted me to administer Holy Baptism to some of your children
and first Holy Communion to others. I buried your loved ones, listened to your confessions, and
celebrated the Holy Eucharist daily and weekly with you. It is the opportunity I have had to
celebrate all these sacramental moments and blessings with you that give meaning to my life
as a priest.

I came alone to the parish, but I’m not leaving alone. I leave with everyone of you. Your faith,
prayers, smiles, and words of love that I experienced in these two years have enriched me and
become part of me now.

I sincerely thank all of you for your friendship: the Clergy, Staff, members of Pastoral Council,
Finance Council, all committees, and the entire parish leadership team and parishioners.
I also appreciate all the gifts I have received from parishioners, and I say thank you to those
who organized the going-away receptions for us and those who gave me the gifts.

Finally, in my years of ministry and life experiences, one thing stands in front of my eyes: I
always learn more from parishioners and people in general than I am able to teach them. This
conviction fills me with greater expectation and hope as I leave HSP to become the pastor of St.
John’s parish in Mount Vernon and St. Isidore’s parish in Springville.

Soon on my heels will come father Mark Kwenin, also from Cape Coast, Ghana. I ask that you
welcome, love, and support him even more than you did for me.

In Christ,

Fr. Andrew

Thank you Fr. Andrew for the 2years of sharing your faith, time and presence in us. We deeply appreciate what you have done. The friendship that is built based on respect and love. You arrived in the parish almost the same time we joined as parishioners. You have helped us in our adjustment to the new environment and people where we are in. Thank you.

Father, It has been I,for one, who has been blessed by your service at Holy Spirit. I don't believe in coincidences. God brought me to this Parish at this time in my life for a reason. Two of those reasons being Father Thoman and of course you. Your fire and passion for Christ makes you a shining light. Your new parish will love you, learn from you and be fully blessed. Clearly God has chosen them for a time to be mentored by you. Lucky are they, blessed was I and will I ever be.
